Nike x Wizard of Oz

The Brief

Nike asked for a skate-led celebration to mark a limited-edition shoe drop honoring the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz—a moment that needed to speak credibly to the skate community while nodding to cinematic lore.

Concept

Starting from Nike’s skateboard idea, we developed a creative system that “Oz-coded” the skatepark experience—subtle storytelling through ramp geometry, surfaces, and signage—so the brand narrative flowed through the course without overwhelming it.

Site scouting (2 venues)

  • Venice Beach Skatepark

  • The Row DTLA
Both were shortlisted for visibility, access, and production practicality.

Design & build

We prefabricated the ramps off-site for precision and speed, then installed on location and finished with a full campaign wrap. All features met pro specifications. Our ramp partner—skateboarder-run and respected in the scene—kept the build culturally on-code.

Talent & Content

Nike brought pro skaters in for a Preview Day to capture content. While talent was client-side, we engineered the course and schedule to support seamless filming and rider flow.

What made it work

  • Authenticity first: skater-built infrastructure and a credible park environment.
  • Narrative, not theme: Oz references integrated into function, not added on top.
