In line with Alexa Chung’s launch of her collection into Asia, My Beautiful City produced a presentation in Japan underneath the iconic Tokyo Tower. ‘The Virginia’ Collection took inspiration from Charleston in Lewes, an escape from London for many of the Bloomsbury Group at the turn of the last century.
In collaboration with illustrator Illy Jankovich, we created a life-sized and hand-painted diorama to showcase the collection. Designs carry the tone of a modern intellectual elegance, with prints, patterns, and shapes hazily drawing on the quaint textile designs of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant among others.
Playing with perspective and a sense of fun and characterisation, the space was brought to life with vignettes of girls such as fishing on a summer’s day and moon gazing by night.
